Why We Built This

Finding a wedding photographer in Birmingham shouldn't require navigating three different "Featured" tiers and six advertising upsells. The national platforms (The Knot, WeddingWire) charge vendors $3,000–$15,000 per year to appear in search results — which means couples see the vendors who can afford to advertise, not necessarily the ones who are the best fit.

The Wedding Scout was built to prevent a specific error: couples booking vendors based on advertising spend rather than actual quality. We collect publicly available business information — ratings, contact details, service areas — and present it without accepting payment for placement or ranking.

Our Verification Process

Every listing in our directory passes through a three-step verification process before it appears:

Step 1 — Source Verification

We cross-reference each vendor against Google Business Profiles, the Alabama Secretary of State business registry, and the Better Business Bureau. Vendors with fewer than 4 reviews or out-of-state addresses are excluded from the directory.

Step 2 — Contact & Location Confirmation

Phone numbers and websites are verified as active. Vendors operating outside Alabama are removed. We do not list vendors whose primary business address is outside the state, even if they claim to serve the area.

Step 3 — Ongoing Review Monitoring

We monitor review trends across Google, The Knot, and WeddingWire. Vendors with significant quality drops (rating below 3.8 with 10+ reviews) are flagged for review. We audit the full directory against primary sources on a quarterly basis.
